Amsterdam:
Amsterdam is the capital and most populated municipality in the Netherlands. It has a total population of 861,000. The city is located in the province of North Holland in the west of the country. Its name derives from Amstelredamme, indicative of the city's origin around a dam in the river Amstel. The 17th-century canals of Amsterdam and the 19-20th century Defense Line of Amsterdam are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is ranked 1 in the world in welcoming visitors and world-class business meetings. It also leads Europe in the available surface for trade exhibitions.
In many Western countries, mental disorders are the leading cause of disability, responsible for 30-40% of chronic sick leave and costing some 3% of GDP. There are numerous hospitals, institutions in Amsterdam which are working in the field of psychiatry and psychology research and mental health care.
Amsterdam is served by Amsterdam Airport Schipol- Holland’s main international airport located 9km southwest of Amsterdam. Amsterdam also has a beautiful port located on the banks of North Sea Canal and IJ. The Port of Amsterdam is the 4th busiest port by metric tonnes of cargo and 3rd biggest cruise port in Europe.
